Learning Format

In an effort to support students and families, Wolf Creek Summer School will provide some flexibility with regards to student instruction.  Through our experience, Summer School students are most successful when they attend in person each day.  However, in some courses, a hybrid of online and in person instruction may be possible.  Any potential hybrid delivery would be discussed during the intake interview with the Summer School Principal prior to the start of Summer School.  In addition, any online hybrid instructional model will be subject to the student demonstrating that they are able to manage the workload within this course.  If a student falls behind they may be required to attend face to face instruction, upon the discretion of the summer school principal.

This year the Wolf Creek Summer school will again be at Lacombe Composite High School, located at 5628 56th Ave, Lacombe, AB.  During their orientation meeting, students will receive their classroom locations.

Wolf Creek Summer School instructors will provide students with assignments regularly along with instructional support. Students will be able to access teachers and course delivery instruction from 9:00am to 3:00pm on school days.  Students wanting to work outside of these hours will be able to do so independently using the online content and instruction provided to them.

Admission Requirements:

Summer School Students must be residents of Alberta and have an Alberta Student Number (ASN).

Our target audience is high school aged learners.  Students just finishing Grade 9 in June of 2024 are also welcome to attend.

Our upper age limit is typically 21 but there is some flexibilty.  Feel free to reach out to us from our "Contact" page to discuss your situation if you are older than 21.

Pre-requisites:

Course prerequisites, where applicable, must be completed and passed prior to the commencement of the summer school course. Legal identification will be required.

Final Exams and Diploma Exams

Students will write final exams in the Wolf Creek Summer School as determined by their course instructor for all subjects including diploma exams. The diploma exam schedule is below and begins in August.

The dates for non-diploma final exams will be set by the teacher and discussed with students in their education plan.

Are You Rewriting Your Diploma?

Diploma Rewrite Fees are not included in the Summer School Course Fee. All students rewriting a Diploma Exam, must register online for each exam. Students who do not register and pay the Diploma Rewrite Fee will not have a seat assigned and will not have an exam available to write. More information on Diploma Rewrites is available here: https://www.alberta.ca/writing-diploma-exams.aspx.  The information is found half way down under the "How to register" section.

Final Course and Diploma Exam Dates

Teachers of Grade 10 and Grade 11 courses will communicate the final exam dates for students. Students enrolled in Diploma Courses will need to note the schedule as per Alberta Education requirements.
